Founders Story

I am a Milwaukee native who relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 2020, carrying with me a lifetime of lived experiences that continue to shape both my work and my purpose. As an Army veteran, writer, and poet, I learned early on the importance of structure, resilience, and the power of language — especially during moments when safety and understanding feel uncertain.

Today, I work at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and am a junior in nursing school, where I am constantly reminded of how deeply emotional wellness and literacy impact a child’s ability to heal, grow, and thrive. My passion for mental health advocacy and reading literacy is rooted in both personal experience and what I have witnessed firsthand — children navigating the world without always feeling seen, heard, or emotionally safe.

The Soft Minds Project was created to be the space I once needed and the space I saw so many children longing for — one grounded in gentleness, affirmation, and care. At its core, this work exists to give back to children and young adults by fostering calm, supportive environments where softness is honored, stories matter, and every mind is met with compassion.

Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and heard
